Developer API Reference

Integrate programmatic disposable email addresses, automate OTP/verification extraction, and poll incoming messages via the Swift Mail REST API.

Base URL & Protocol

All API endpoints communicate over standard HTTPS/HTTP and accept JSON request bodies.

API Key Authentication

Pass your developer API key in the X-API-Key request header. You can generate keys from your Developer Console.

Rate Limiting & Anti-Spam Protection

Swift Mail enforces multi-layer sliding window rate limits. If a script triggers 5 consecutive rate limit violations within a 5-minute window, the API key and client IP are automatically suspended.

Create a Disposable Inbox

POST/api/v1/inboxes

Generates a new temporary email address. Optionally customize local-part or set webhook forwarding.

High Speed Bot Endpoint

GET/api/v1/inboxes/{id_or_address}/wait-otp

Long-polls the inbox for up to timeout seconds. As soon as a verification email arrives, it instantly extracts the OTP code and verification URL. Perfect for Discord and automation bots!

Non-blocking Latest OTP

GET/api/v1/inboxes/{id_or_address}/latest-otp

Returns the latest OTP and verification links immediately without long-polling.

List Received Messages

GET/api/v1/inboxes/{inbox_id}/messages

Retrieves paginated message summaries for the specified inbox ID.

Delete Inbox

DELETE/api/v1/inboxes/{inbox_id}

Deletes an inbox and cascades deletion to all stored messages.

Inspects remaining manual and programmatic inbox creation limits for the current 24-hour cycle.

HTTP Status Codes Reference

Status Code	Meaning	Description
200 OK	Success	Request completed successfully.
201 Created	Resource Created	New temporary inbox or message stored.
401 Unauthorized	Missing or Invalid Key	Supplied X-API-Key is invalid, revoked, or missing.
403 Forbidden	Access Denied	Creation paused by admin or account is blacklisted.
429 Too Many Requests	Rate Limit Exceeded	Client exceeded rate limits. Slow down to avoid strike bans.
503 Service Unavailable	Maintenance Mode	Developer API is currently in scheduled maintenance.
